The newest area into which the IICRC has expanded in recent years includes hard-surface inspection and problem analysis. Hard surface installations begin with the subflooring, whether concrete slab, plywood, wood composites, or even other existing floorings. Experienced flooring industry professionals are taught to recognize all types of ceramic tile, marble, stone, vinyl, wood and even installation-related issues as they relate to or are impacted by the subflooring over which these floor coverings are installed.
Certified inspectors are qualified through a series of courses on flooring product performance and specifications, along with the typical problems that may be related to manufacture, installation, maintenance, or just normal characteristics. They serve as qualified third parties when it comes to rendering professional opinions and advice, all of which is designed to lead to better understanding of product characteristics and performance, and ultimately, to complaint resolution. |
